In the six-episode web series “Kafas,” which is created by Sahil Sangha, Mona Singh and Sharman Joshi play the married couple Seema and Raghav Vashisht. The show is an official Indian adaptation of the Dark Money BBC miniseries from 2018. Mikhail Gandhi, who plays Sunny Vashisht, a teenager who has been traumatized by physical abuse and finds the strength to tell his parents about it, is the show’s standout star.

Vivan Bhatena, a successful actor and a sexual abuser, is wonderfully cast as super-star Vikram Bajaj. He appears to be attractive and beloved by everyone else, but he is actually a cunning sexual predator.

The SonyLiv series Kafas has the highest weekly viewership and is surely growing.

The story – Kafas

The series Kafas is about a middle-class family from Mumbai whose school-going child is poised to break out into stardom after landing a role in a $300 million movie with a big actor.

The power of money traps parents and their reality when a child is sexually molested. The conflict between truth and power is the focal point of the web series Kafas. Sharman Joshi and Mona Singh respectively play Sunny’s parents. They agreed to a settlement and a commitment to keep the molestation claim quiet in exchange for a reward of Rs 10 crore.

The filmmakers have brought up a number of subjects in the web series Kafas, including the physical abuse of men, the prevalence of paedophiles disguising themselves as “family people,” inappropriate chat messages among schoolboys, and the fact that wealthy, powerful men often use their wealth to cover up their dirty secrets.

Good performance by all actors

The series actually worked for each and every character, as they had equal importance. The roles of Joshi and Mona Singh feel like they were made for them. Tejasvi Singh Ahlawat, who plays Mikhail Gandhi’s sister, and Vivan Bhatena, who plays the superstar, are all outstanding actors. The surprise package also includes The Mohabbatein actor, Preeti Jhangiani, who has made her come back to the screens with Kafas. She is perfect for the role of the superstar’s wife. Although there’s no weight to her character, the writers could have added some substance to it.

What did not work for the series?

Due to its slow pacing in the second half, the six-part series may have been finished in five seasons. The hold starts to wane.

To put Joshi’s persona in context, a few scenes from his life have been portrayed. These scenes, particularly the ones involving his ex-wife (Mona Vasu), however, seemed unnecessary. They did nothing but increase the screen time.

You should watch it.

Even though it isn’t the finest of the OTT, it is definitely entertaining and the topic is intriguing. The content, performances, and execution of the series were successful.
