Dark circle is the most common problem faced by one in every household. You look into the mirror and get worried about the under eye circles which take away the beauty of your face. They make you look older, tired and unwell. Dark circles can be an indication towards change in lifestyle like not sleeping properly or unhealthy eating pattern. If you are someone who hates dark circles, I am going to share few amazing easy to do home remedies which will lighten your dark circles and also will hydrate your skin under the eyes. The best part is you don’t have to spend heavy amount on expensive creams.

But first let’s talk about what really causes DARK CIRCLES?

The actual reason of dark circles under your eyes can be:

  • Oversleeping
  • Stress
  • Allergies
  • Too much screen time (don’t get surprised)
  • Fatigue
  • Sleep deprivation
  • Skin irritants in the makeup
  • Hyper pigmentation
  • Anemia
  • Thyroid
  • Lack of hydration
  • Genetic
  • Thinning of the skin under the eyes
  • Loss of fatty issues
  • Direct exposure to sun

There are few home remedies which can reduce the appearance of under eye circles:

1.Rosewater and Milk:

For this you need:

  • 1 table spoon rosewater
  • 1 table spoon cold milk

Mix rosewater and cold milk. Apply it on the affected area by using cotton pads and keep it for 15 minutes.  Repeat the process every day for at least 4 weeks.



Rosewater has a soothing effect on the eye and is very beneficial as well. It reduces redness and has anti aging properties. It is also very helpful in removing dust particle from the eyes.

Milk contains lactic acid which reduces puffiness from the face and the area around the eyes. It makes the skin firm and smooth. It also promotes the production of collagen and helps in setting up new cells.

2. Almond oil:

For this you need:

  • Few drops of Almond oil

Apply a little amount of almond oil on your dark circles and gently massage. Leave it overnight and wash it off next morning. Do these every night till you start seeing the results?

Almond oil is a rich source of Vitamin E, Vitamin K and retinol . It lightens the dark circle under your skin and reduces the dullness. It is also used for treating many skin problems.

3. Saffron and milk

For this you need:

  • Few strands of Saffron
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Mix saffron in the milk. Now massage thoroughly in circular motion. Keep it overnight and rinse it with cold water in the morning. Continue the process for 4 weeks for better results.

Saffron promotes radiant skin and treats dullness. It lightens the dark circles and makes your skin smooth. It is a rich source of anti oxidant and has anti inflammatory properties.

4. Argon oil:

For this you need:

  • Argon oil few drops

Take few drops of argon oil and apply it using your ring finger under your eyes. Tap it gently and let the oil get soaked in your skin. Do not rinse it. Apply it every night for better results.

Argon oil is very rich in Vitamin E and can be safely used around your eyes. It is beneficial in reducing dark circle and also brings back the natural glow of the skin. It is also free from harmful toxic substances like sulphate, synthetic dyes and artificial fragrances.

5. Turmeric and Almond Oil

For this you need:

  • Turmeric ¼ teaspoons
  • Almond oil 1 teaspoon

Mix almond oil and turmeric properly. Apply the mixture under your eyes and massage gently. After 15 to 20 min, wash it off. Apply it 3 times a week.

Turmeric is an antioxidant and has anti inflammatory properties. It removes the dead and dark skin. It reduces under eye circle and makes your skin glowing.

The above mentioned home remedies will require time and patience. Be consistent.
