workplace

People have different styles/techniques to deal with things at workplace. Here are 10 ways to be human at workplace:

1.LEARN FROM DIFFERENT STYLE/TECHNIQUES FROM OTHERS:

This is one of the most important aspects, learning from everyone.  People have different styles/techniques to deal with things at workplace. Always listen to the others point of view; you may strike a new idea. There is a saying, “you either win or you learn”. Learning from others gives you an exposure to more insight and ideas that might not appear to you otherwise. Learning is a top most quality of a leader.

2. TAKE CRITICISM IN A POSITIVE MANNER:

If your input is challenged, focus on the IDEA instead of assuming someone is being “too aggressive”. Many people get aggressive or can’t deal with someone challenging their idea. If you want to be successful in life, take criticism in your stride. People don’t reject us, so don’t get personal about it, they reject our proposals. A business man reaches out to many people for their opinion, not everyone is going to like their idea. It’s important to listen with an open mind and absorb the things you feel requires immediate attention, you never know this feedback can turn into a blessing.

3. THERE IS NO SPACE FOR JUSTIFYING YOUR BEHAVIOUR:

Assume everyone is smart, so don’t belittle people and possibly furious. Speaking or behaving as if the other person is a fool is a rude act. People can do judge your behavior as well. Don’t justify yourself for treating people unethically or insulting them publicly.

4. Make MEETINGS more inclusive:

Try and make your meetings interesting and ensure everyone is comfortable at workplace. It has to be interactive and involve each and every team member at workplace. You can add humor and involve some off the topics discussions to make it less boring. Your meetings should be short and in a structured manner.

5. LISTEN FULLY AND DON’T INTERRUPT PEOPLE:

Interrupting anyone is a rude thing to do, especially at work place where people get personal about it. Interruption can hamper our productivity and takes away our focus. It’s very frustrating as well. People have a right to express their views at workplace and by listening to them you will get more out of every conversation.

6. TALK POSITIVE:

Words can actually affect our brain. Words have power to heal people, to hurt them and to help them. By holding a positive conversation we are spreading positive vibes and hopes amongst people at workplace. Positive words can motivate people to perform better and come out of everyday stress. Positive words build people whereas negative words break people.

7. ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR TEAM:

When you see them around the office – even if it’s just a smile: When you acknowledge your team, it gives them a sense of belonging and they feel you respect their existence. Always appreciate people for their contribution and accomplishments. They are the ones who are part of your life now, so give them importance and show them their real worth.

Always avoid office discrimination especially in a meeting where it becomes visible that everyone is not treated equally. Even if you don’t like someone personally, still give them a chance to speak up. People should be treated equally and with self respect at workplace. Instead of degrading, give people a platform to grow and excel.

10. FEEDBACK:

Feedback should be a two way process. When you are giving feedback to anyone make sure it should sound like a conversation and not blame. It should not be based on your liking or disliking, be professional. Maintain your calm and watch your words. You should also be approachable if others have a feedback for you. Don’t take feedback personally, or otherwise it will shun your growth
