1. Rishi Kapoor – The Legend of Indian Cinema

The news of demise of Irrfan Khan is still impeding us deep inside our heart and now there is another shocking news which came in the morning that the only Chocolate Boy of Indian Cinema, “Rishi Kapoor” is no more.  The country is moaning after hearing the news of his death. Rishi Kapoor entertained the audience for five decades. From a gawky teenager (Mera Naam Joker) to an overnight sensation (Bobby) to a mischievous 90-year-old (Kapoor and sons), he has engraved a place for himself with a series of musical love stories in the era when movies like Zanzeer became popular.

2. Rishi Kapoor – Crush of the Nation

Rishi Kapoor (4th Sep 1952 – 30th Apr 2020) was born in Mumbai, he was the second son of the legendary actor and film director Raj Kapoor and the grandson of the well-known Prithviraj Kapoor. He debuted in the film “Mera Naam Joker” as a child artist in the year 1970, where he essayed his father’s role as a child.

His first lead role as an actor was in the movie “Bobby” a youth love story opposite Dimple Kapadia which instantly made him the secret crush of entire nation. Rishi Kapoor has played a romantic hero over two decades. He looked so naïve and fresh that the directors and producers found it difficult to find an actress who will look as adorable as him. Rishi has set a world record of working with 19 new faces. Rishi Kapoor worked in 12 movies opposite his wife Neetu Singh. They are the still considered as the best onscreen couple.

3. Rishi Kapoor – The Reinvention

Rishi Kapoor played the role of romantic hero from 1973 till 1998 and continued to woo his fan following. 25 years is a long time for an actor to romance his heroine therefore monotony hit him hard and he became bored playing the same kind of romantic roles all over again. But, age is just a number for an actor like him, after a career of over 5 decades, he transformed himself into popular character artist and post 2000 worked in movies like Fanaa, Namastey London, Hum Tum, Love Aajkal as a supporting actor. Rishi was privileged with numerous like National Award, Filmfare best actor, Filmfare critics’ awards and received Filmfare lifetime achievement award in the year 2008.

4. Rishi Kapoor – A Chocolate Boy

Rishi Kapoor’s silver foil look in the song “Om Shanti Om” from the movie Karz on a rotating stage made the audience jump of the seat and dance to the famous number in the cinema hall. His fans established a liking for qawali numbers when they saw Rishi wearing a shirt with frills in the movie Hum Kissi Se Kam Nahi. Rishi Kapoor’s youthful energy was contagious, the ease with which he flattered his women on the screen made him the heartthrob of the Indian Cinema. He was a perfect hero with a cute face, chubby cheeks, fair, cuteness unlimited, curly hair and colorful wardrobe made a lot of other actors of his genre envy.

5. Rishi Kapoor – The Memoir Khullam Khulla

Rishi is his book “Khullam Khula” expressed himself profoundly and without any reservations. The book is a pleasure to read, his straight forward twitter post with a pinch of salt and personal revelations, it is like going inside the life of the legend –  so honest, so much entertaining.

The memoir mentions about his relationships with his leading ladies, growing under the shadow of his famous father and his musical blockbusters. Rishi Kapoor, the star mentioned about suffering from clinic depression so freely. He would believe that marriage has jeopardized his fan base and this self-doubt indisposed him. The failure of the movie “Karz” shattered him completely and he lost confidence on his acting skills.

Rishi even once admitted that he is currently unemployed, none of the actor would have guts to announce that I am without a job. He would never lie to please someone and his blunt attitude has made his contemporaries dismayed. Rishi would never shy away from speaking his mind, he said once “I am a tax payer and it’s my right to speak whatever I feel”.

6. Rishi Kapoor – Sudden demise

In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was detected with Bone Marrow Cancer and went to New York for the treatment and stayed there over a year. Thankfully, he was cured and returned back to India in 2019. Rishi complaint about having difficulty in breathing and was admitted in hospital on 29th April 2020 and unfortunately he took his last breath on 30th April 2020 leaving the entire country in a state of shock and remorse.
