The most attractive looking, mouth watering food items in the grocery store are the processed food. Colorful packaging, shapes and size, make them look delicious and appealing. Highly Processed or chemical processed food is conveniently available and also tastes great. But, they do a lot of damage to your body, as they contain high amount of artificial ingredients, fat, salt and sugar. They can increase your cholesterol level, make you obese and can also cause life threatening diseases such as diabetes, heart problems, etc. Chemically processed food also comprises of artificial substances, refined ingredients and contains negligible amount of nutrition.

1.High amount of sugar, salt:

Highly processed food contains loads of added sugar and salt to make the food tasty. This can severely impact your metabolism and can also result in obesity, diabetes, blood pressure tooth decay and heart problems. Highly processed food items also contains high fructose corn syrup, usually promoted as sugar free or zero sugar.

2. Added preservatives:

They contain high levels of preservatives to increase their life cycle. There are various side effects of preservatives such as allergic reactions, headache, nausea, liver damage and mental disorder etc.

3. Extremely addictive:

Processed food, also known as junk food, is highly addictive because of the taste and attractive packaging. Therefore, you tend to overeat them. They also increase dopamine in the brain, which makes you longing for them more. The food items include cookies, sugar drinks, chips, sauces, dips and frozen meal, etc.

4. Contains trans fat:

Food items rich in trans fat are very unhealthy. Excess of trans fat can cause heart diseases and they are added to increase the shelf life. Processed food also contains hydrogenated oil, which can cause infection in the body.

5. Contains BPA:

Bisphenol, commonly known as BPA is a chemical, which is not safe for humans. BPA containing plastics are used in food packaging such as lining of container, baby bottles, toiletries etc. It is also toxic in nature.

Processed food includes artificial chemical based ingredients such as colors, flavor, odor to make them for tempting. They can also cause dehydration, hypertension and other life threatening issues.
