Nepotism killed the heart of the millions of fans, Sushant Singh Rajput. I am nobody to Sushant neither a huge fan, but always valued and appreciated his guts to survive on his own, in an industry which is full of nepotism and fake friendship. One needs to be a part of a particular camp for doing an A-List movie. Sushant Singh Rajput’s abrupt demise has resuscitated the discussion about nepotism in Bollywood. His suicide has triggered the callous side of Bollywood’s powerful camps and Sushant was also a victim of it.

The politician Sanjay Nirupam, tweeted a post, Sushant lost seven films in six months, despite giving a blockbuster Chhichhore. Why? The B-Town’s brutality works on a different tangent.

A young aspirant Sushant who came to follow his dreams from Bihar, without any contacts to flaunt. He worked as a background dancer in showbiz and bagged his first assignment in the TV Show, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil as the brother of the main lead. Later Ekta Kapoor signed him as a main lead in the super hit TV Series – Pavitra Rishta, which made him quite popular. His fame guaranteed his incursion in the tinsel town. Sushant always aimed to become a big star in the industry, where talent has no worth in front of nepotism.

His first movie, Kai Po Che in 2013, which was an adaptation of the writer Chetan Bhagat’s The three mistakes of my life, labelled him as a rising star. Shudh Desi Romance was a big banner movie and gave him wings to fly, although the box office collection was average but Sushant’s acting was critically acclaimed. His super hit movie – M.S. Dhoni: The untold story, which was the biopic of the cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni marked his metal as an actor who can do versatile roles. Chhichhore – another blockbuster which instilled his foot in the industry like never before.

According to scuttlebutt, Sushant was offered roles in many big banner movies, which include Aditya Chopra’s – Befikre and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s – Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram – Leela, but later he was replaced by Ranveer Singh in both the movies, many people don’t know that Ranvir is a cousin of Sonam Kapoor. Though Rajput was upset with it, but he took it positively and never took rejection too seriously. In one of the interviews to INS, he agreed that industry insiders (nepotism) get “slightly more room” than an outsider, but he has learnt to take it on his stride.

But his demise has appalled everyone and the hypocrisy inside Bollywood is being questioned. There are tweets of several young talents, who posted that the industry is structured around protecting its bloodiness, double standard and is contemptuous of outsiders. Kangana Ranaut, has always been open about nepotism in the industry and has accused Karan Johar on the national television for casting only star kids or who’s who in his movies that crutch their embryonic careers.

Kangana Ranaut, was very disturbed with his sudden demise and smashed the nepotism and hypocrisy in the B-Town in a 2 minute video. She mentioned, that Sushant work was never appreciated and never got any award for his talent and contribution in biopics like M.S. Dhoni. She said that he didn’t even receive a male debutante award as well for Kai Po Che.

The netizens started baking Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar for speaking absurdly about Sushant Singh Rajput on the show Koffee with Karan, they tweeted against them for depicting nepotism in Bollywood and greeted Kangana for being precarious and vocal about it.

But in the end, the question remains, why did big banners in the industry, boycotted Sushant Singh Rajput. Why in few of his posts, he begged his fans to watch his movies, otherwise he will be kicked out of the industry as he has no Godfather? Why he never got an award for any of his films like M.S. Dhoni, Chhichhore, Kai Po Che? Why he was not being invited to the Bollywood parties?

Why there was confrontation between Sushant and Aditya Chopra and why Karan Johar became a part of it? Why Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur posted a revealing tweet, reading: “I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people that let you down so bad that you would weep on my shoulder. I wish I was around the last six months. I wish you had reached out to me. What happened to you was their Karma. Not yours.”
