Bollywood- 7 Famous Celebrities who were involved in Drugs

The Narcotics Control Bureau has detained Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, in custody till Thursday, October 7, a day after the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested him and seven others in a cruise ship drugs case off the coast of Mumbai last evening.

Bollywood has a long and tangled history with drugs. Many Bollywood sources have confessed that not only does the industry have a strong drug culture, but that some celebrities use a variety of harmful substances. Rhea Chakraborty admitted that Sushant Singh Rajput was hooked to marijuana. She said this in an exclusive interview with India Today Television following the actor’s death. Then there was Armaan Kohli, who was arrested in August when his Mumbai house was raided by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

As per an article in Hindustan times’, Kangana Ranaut stated recently that 99 percent of Bollywood celebrities use drugs. “I request Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Ayan Mukerji, and Vicky Kaushik to give their blood samples for drug screening, there are speculations that they are cocaine addicts, I want them to bust these gossips, these young men can influence millions of people if they present clean samples,” she posted on Twitter on September 2.

Let’s take a glance at some Bollywood celebs who have had drug encounters in the past as the NCB detains Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan following a drug raid aboard Cordelia Cruises’ Empress ship off the coastline of Mumbai.

1. Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt, one of the first celebrities to admit to being addicted to drugs. He quit it in the 1980s after suffering a lung collapse. Sanjay admitted a few years back on Simi Garewal’s chat show that he couldn’t remember a day when he felt completely at ease. He confessed that he began doing drugs in college and got addicted because it was the ‘cool’ thing at the time.

2. Fardeen Khan

Fardeen Khan has appeared in films such as No Entry, Heyy Babyy, and others. He is the son of ever charming bollywood actor Feroz Khan. He had a brief Bollywood career before fading into darkness. Fardeen was a heroin addict who was apprehended on May 5, 2001, by Mumbai Police. The actor was also allegedly arrested with 9 grams of cocaine, according to reports.

3. Bharti Singh & Haarsh Limbachiyaa

After a round of questioning by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the recovery of drugs from her home during an investigation last year, Bharti Singh and her spouse Haarsh Limbachiyaa were arrested. They both also admitted to having used marijuana (ganja).

4. Armaan Kohli:

Armaan Kohli is a former Bigg Boss contestant who has acted in films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo along with Salman Khan & Jaani Dushman. He was detained by the NVB in August of this year after a raid on his residence in Juhu, Mumbai. He was questioned by NCB for a long time in the drug matter before his arrest.

5. Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni

Mamta Kulkarni was one of Bollywood’s most popular stars in the 1990s. However, Thane Police listed the actress as a suspect in India’s largest-ever drug network in June 2018. In April, Thane Police made a record recovery of 20 tones of ephedrine. During the police operation, drugs worth Rs 2,000 crore were seized.

6. Prateik Babar

The actor admitted to using drugs when he was 13 years old. In a 2017 Mid-Day piece, he stated that his struggles began before he graduated from high school.  He also stated that later rehabilitation supported him in overcoming this issue.

7. Vijay Raaz

Vijay Raaz acted in movies like Gully Boy, Naam, etc was held at the Abu Dhabi airport after being arrested for drug possession. When the actor arrived in Abu Dhabi for the shoot of Director Vikram Bhatt’s film “Deewane Hue Paagal,” the incident occurred. The actor was also imprisoned for a few days and was only able to get out after the Indian government interfered. On his arrival, the actor denied using drugs and claimed he knew who put them in his bag.
